What's the story??
The whole show is set in the Paris Opera House, where there is a rumour that a mysterious creature, the Phantom, is on the loose. The main female lead, Christine, who is a chorus girl, hears the phantoms voice in her sleep and mistakes him for an angel.He leads her down into his lair, and she begins to realise that this man is no angel! The managers at the opera house get threatening letters saying that Christine had better get the lead part in the upcoming play. The Prima Donna, Carlotta is unhappy about this and accuses Raoul, Christines lover. THe Phantom overhears Christine and Raoul singing a love song and cuts the chord to the great chandelier, attempting to kill them both, but luckily it misses.

A year passes, and no-one has heard from the Phantom since the incident with the chandelier until he gatecrashes a ball telling everyone that he has written an Opera for them, with Christine as the main part (naturally!) she and Raoul are secretly engaged as not to show the Phantom. Eventually, he takes her back to his lair, and threatens to hang Raoul, unless she lives with him in his dungeon..Christine passionately embraces the Phantom to show that he is not alone, and he orders her and Raoul to leave. At the end of the show..we see that all that is left of him is his mask..the Phantom has dissapeared........
